I feel that an outstanding achievement of the confer­ ence is that many new contacts have been made between groups interested in different problems. Only in this way can anything approaching an international plan for the study of (science) be realized. It is only because of the really smooth running of the meeting that all this has been possible.

OBJECTIVES

The course objectives are:

1)to provide, the participants with practical information re­ garding technical equipment, procedural tips and tricks and inhospital as well as long-term follow-up after site-specific radiation, gene and cellular therapy and drug delivery. The objectives will be addressed in lectures and hands-on demonstrations.

2)to provide the participants with a theoretical frame work on indications for radiation, gene therapy and local drug delivery as well as an overview of developments expected to enter the clini­ cal field in the coming years as: myo-angiogenesis, percutaneous myocardial revascularization and transmyo-cardial revasculariza­ tion, molecular and cellular therapeutics as well as bio­ engineering. Further an update on new cardiovascular imaging modalities will be provided.
