CULTURAL POLITICS OF MEDIA IN THE ESTIMATES

OF THE JOURNALISTIC COMMUNITY

(ON THE BASIS OF PERM AND SAINT-PETERSBURG)

Abstract. The article examines the problem of the definition of priorities by the media cultural policy and achieving a balance between satisfying the information needs of a mass audience and shaping its cultural level. On the basis of the interviews with the editors of regional newspapers the author concludes about attitude of the regional journalists to the idea of educational mission of journalism, as well as assesses the degree of satisfaction with the quality of coverage by the editorial staff of the cultural problematics.
