SOCIAL MEDIA AS A PLATFORM FOR CIVIC ACTIVITY:
THE SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS
Abstract. The article presents possibilities of the sociological study of social media as a platform for civic activity. It is a topical theme due to the formation of civil society and growth of civic activism in contemporary Russia and the spread of Internet communications (in particular via social media), providing significant opportunities for social integration. The article examines the possibility of using the methodology of structural and functional analysis in investigation of the display of civic engagement in social media.
