9.Really! Само по себе используется в тех случаях, когда вы хотите побудить собеседника сказать еще кое-что о том, что он только что сказал. Слово Really! означает: «Я понял, что вы сказали, но я не уверен, как мне поступить, поэтому скажите, пожалуйста, кое-что еще»
Really можно использовать для усиления значения того или иного слова.
I’m really interested. I really like her.
10.Please используется в конце вежливой просьбы:
A cup of coffee, please.
Could you tell me your phone number, please?
Это слово можно также использовать в начале предложения, чтобы смягчить приглашение или просьбу. В этом случае ваш собеседник сам выполняет те или иные действия.
Please come in. Please help yourselves.
Если Please стоит в середине просьбы, это обычно означает, что вы раздражены или вы уже повторяете просьбу второй раз.
11.Certainly! используется в тех случаях, когда вы соглашаетесь принять предложение или помощь. Это слово означает: «Да, конечно, я вполне готов(а) согласиться, и вряд ли стоило спрашивать».
Помните: очень важно произносить это слово с резким понижением интонации, иначе оно будет звучать грубо.
Certainly not! означает «Я не согласна, и мое несогласие так очевидно, что не следовало даже спрашивать».
12.Yes… / No… самостоятельно используется очень редко, только если говорящий раздражен.

Помните: ваш ответ будет звучать грубо, если вы ограничитесь одним словом.

Примеры проблемных ситуаций
Задание 1. What would you say in the following situations?
а) Вы находитесь в гостях у подруги/друга. Вы звоните домой. У вас есть пара минут, чтобы убедить их позволить вам остаться у нее/него на ужин.
б) Ваша подруга говорит вам, что вчера она встретила замечательного мужчину и скоро выходит замуж. Убедите ее подумать об этом внезапном решении.
в) Вы пригласили английского друга посетить вас в вашей стране, но он решил поехать собирать гербарий в джунглях вместо этого. Попробуйте заставить его передумать.
г) У вас есть билеты в кино. В последний момент ваша девушка/парень звонит и говорит, что у нее/него болит голова и она/он не может прийти. Что вы на это скажете?
Задание 2. Как вы будете обращаться за помощью в следующих ситуациях:
а) Вы не понимаете слов "ancestor" и "distant relative". По-
просите преподавателя объяснить их.
б) Вы не видите, что написано на доске, потому что стул одного из студентов находится на пути. Попросите его передвинуть стул в другое место, а затем отодвинуть назад.
в) Вы считаете, что в комнате душно, но вам очень неудобно подходить к окну, чтобы открыть его. Попросите другого студента открыть окно.
г) Вы не можете закрыть свою квартиру. Попросите соседа помочь вам закрыть ее.
д) Вам необходимо постирать белье. Инструкции на стиральной машине не ясны. Попросить помощи.
