Music school in the community assessment
(as a result of the international project «Music: Education with Inspiration» within crossborder cooperation program)
Abstract. The article is based on the results of the survey conducted on teachers and pupils of Petrozavodsk music schools as well as pupils’ parents. It
carried out by the Chair of Sociology of Petrozavodsk State University as part of tСО ТntОrnКtТonКХ proУОМt “MЮsТМ: EНЮМКtТon аТtС InspТrКtТon”, TСО EЮropОКn
Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument, cross-border cooperation programme “KКrОХТК”. TСТs proУОМt (2013–2014) is aimed at creating the condi-

tions of the border cultural environment in the Republic of Karelia (Russia) and North Karelia (Finland), establishing sustainable mechanisms of the collaboration between music schools and local community, and stimulating the develop-
ment of qualifications and competencies of music and arts teachers. A total of 246 teachers, 260 sОnТor pЮpТХs КnН 228 pЮpТХs’ pКrОnts аОrО sЮrЯОвОН ЮsТnР
questionnaires and focus groups. The analysis of data has revealed current expectations of different social groups from music school, problems and challenges faced by adults and children in the process of teaching or/and learning music. It also allowed to assess the degree of their satisfaction with professional activities and educational services in the system of supplementary music education.
