Silk Road Spirit and Belt and Road Initiative

Abstract: When countries and people along the Silk Road on land and sea carried out exchanges with one another, they formed a particular spirit of peaceful cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and emulation and mutual benefit for win-win outcomes. Today, the “One Belt, One Road” initiative proposed by China and positively responded to by countries and peoples among Asia, Europe and Africa is based on the foundation of voluntariness, equality and reciprocity, pursuing the goals of peace, prosperity, openness, innovation and civilization, and emphasizing the guideline of consultation, contribution and shared benefits as well. As to the basic connotation and fundamental essence, the spirit of Silk Road and the "One Belt, One Road" initiative are culturally in line with each other with mutually deepened integration.
