THE LANGUAGE OF POLITICS IN THE EPOCH
OF GLOBALIZATION
The article discusses linguistic aspects of modern political discourse (PD). The research aims at describing the use of linguistic markers by American politicians in various genres of PD. The rhetoric of PD is discussed. Special attention is given to the communicative effect of word-intensifiers in political speech. Phonetic aspects of oral PD are brought into focus.
